I sucked it up and brought most of my clothes to the lavanderia<\/em> this afternoon and I\u00b4m terrified that\u00a0single socks will be missing.\u00a0 Oh the things I worry about.\u00a0\u00a0And I\u00b4m not sure why, since I\u00b4m sure I have an abundance\u00a0of wickedly colorful clown socks to choose from here.\u00a0 I just handed a plastic bag of mi ropa<\/em> to the teenager who simply\u00a0said \u00a8Wash and dry?\u00a8 and told me to return at 6pm.\u00a0\u00a0Entonces, por supuesto<\/em>, I return around\u00a06:25\u00a0and the place is shut down for the evening.\u00a0 If I see some teenage kid wearing my Mickey Mouse t-shirt\u00a0and one of my erroneous socks\u00a0around Xela tomorrow,\u00a0\u00a8XelaWho\u00a8is going to have another international incident to cover.<\/p>\n

So I decided to stick with Carlos next week, mostly because I couldn\u00b4t be bothered switching at this point since I\u00b4m only staying at Celas Maya for one more week.\u00a0 And today my brain just couldn\u00b4t process any English, let alone Spanish.\u00a0 Last Friday was\u00a0a little frustrating at school too.\u00a0 I\u00b4m generally not used to speaking so slowly and today, at the sound of the 1pm bell after five hours of what seemed to be really slow and painful\u00a0conversation and lessons, I instantly started rambling away in English.\u00a0 I was making up words left and right today, and while Carlos is really amused by this, I\u00b4m a little worried that I may have hit a wall.\u00a0 I may give it a rest this weekend and focus totally on work.\u00a0 Poor Lety, my coworker here at Proyecto Payaso…we were laughing today at my sorry attempts at trying to speak some Spanish to her.\u00a0 She has a great sense of humor and corrects me when I use wrong tenses and palabras<\/em> and we have had some successful conversations.\u00a0 I also had a sweet conversation with her 8 year old daughter this week, who is learning English and French in school.\u00a0 I\u00b4ll tell you one thing, I never seem to have any trouble talking about food in Spanish, though.\u00a0 Today I happily agreed\u00a0to cook dinner for Lety and Stef next week and was able to rattle off\u00a0an entire menu\u00a0AND how I will prepare the meal.\u00a0 Maybe I can get a job in a kitchen when I return to NYC.<\/div>\n
