I have so many more great pictures, but, as usual, was only able to upload a few images.\u00a0 I should be able to upload more tomorrow when I have a little more time, so stay tuned.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Today was hectic…I worked until around midnight last night on another version of a cover for the calendar, got up this morning to do my me, te, lo, la, se, les<\/em>, los<\/em> homework, and thankfully have a better grasp on when and how to use these constructions in sentences.\u00a0 I think I\u00b4m going to stay with Carlos for one more week. \u00a0I\u00b4m a little scared to change teachers since I\u00b4ve progressed so much with him, but I really want to go to this other school.\u00a0 I\u00b4m also worried that we\u00b4re\u00a0 getting a little too chummy so I\u00b4m\u00a0 afraid we might goof off instead of working.\u00a0\u00a0 He is already\u00a0gossiping to me about work and while I love most of our casual\u00a0conversations and I\u00b4m sure they are helping me feel more comfortable\u00a0speaking, I do still make a lot of grammatical mistakes and I think we need to pay more attention\u00a0to correcting them.\u00a0 Like today we talked about his friend who they nicknamed el camello<\/em> because he was so feo<\/em>, and slightly hunchbacked, but managed to keep una esposa y dos cashpianos.\u00a0 <\/em>I\u00b4m totally complicit, because I egg him on and the stories are great, but do I really need to know another word for \u00a8mistress\u00a8?<\/div>\n
There was also a\u00a0procession today celebrating la virgen<\/em>\u00a0that kicks off a series of little fiestas<\/em> in October, which is apparently the month of Mary in Xela, or the month of rosaries, not sure which.\u00a0 Carlos was supposed to explain the significance, but he forgot to.\u00a0 We went to it twice.\u00a0 And yes, I did my homework correctly, and he seems to think I have the whole pronoun thing down, but I don\u00b4t have as much trouble finding the direct object in a written sentence\u00a0as I do\u00a0identifying it in questions or oral sentences.<\/div>\n

\nDe todos modos<\/em>, in this particular procession\u00a0they\u00a0put a huge, garish statue of Mary on a wooden platform and carry it from one place in the main church, once around the park and return it to a place in the center of the same church.\u00a0\u00a0Every band in every parade I\u00b4ve seen since I got here also\u00a0follow her around the park. \u00a0 I was in Peru a few years ago during Corpus Christi and every day for two weeks you couldn\u00b4t walk anywhere in Cuzco without seeing either Jesus, Mary or some syncretic saint being carried from one church to another, accompanied by a marching band, por supuesto<\/em>.\u00a0 I\u00b4m definitely glad we went to see the procession because it is so interesting to see the melding of Catholicism and Mayan religious traditions, but I\u00b4m not sure we needed to go twice.\u00a0<\/div>\n
