METEORA!! \u00a0Pulling into the train station at Kalambaka after a loooonnnggg-ass trip from enchanting Skopelos, I was immediately\u00a0energized\u00a0by\u00a0the distant\u00a0view of immense prehistoric rock formations jutting\u00a0up behind a\u00a0small town. \u00a0Ridiculously breathtaking! \u00a0I felt like I was smack dab in the middle of\u00a0an episode of the Flintstones\u2014from the\u00a0slow, seemingly foot-powered train ride\u00a0to the eerie\u00a0sense that a brontosaurus might just walk in front of me and scoop me up with tiny head to carry\u00a0me and my bags across the train tracks to my hotel.<\/p>\n

I was tired. \u00a0I left Skopelos at 7am and arrived around 2, went from ferry terminal to bus station and changed trains twice, used a useless overpass to cross the train tracks and then had to walk the long way around anyway,\u00a0but I still could not wait to walk around this weird tourist town. \u00a0I am so so glad I did, because…<\/p>\n

I SAW A MONK BUCKET BEING LOWERED FROM THE SIDE OF A MONASTERY TOWER!!!<\/p>\n

Look!! I really wanna be pulleyed up in that thing! I’ll even sleep with a monk if I have to. I’ll even sleep with two monks AND a priest IN that thing if I have to.<\/p><\/div>\n

And, if that wasn’t overstimulating enough, I STUMBLED ON A MUSHROOM FESTIVAL!!! \u00a0That’s right. A mushroom festival.<\/p>\n

Okay, I’m exhausted from\u00a0an overdose of monk stuff and mushrooms so I’m going to post more on Meteora tomorrow, after I’ve actually visited some monasteries, and then hopefully go back in time to finish up Skopelos.<\/p>\n
